DAVID SCOTT – MA VETMB CERT EP MRCVS – DIRECTOR

David was brought up on a Cumbrian Dairy Farm riding horses from an early age. He qualified from Cambridge in 1988 and has been working with horses and farm animals in the area since 1990. Equine certification with distinction in 1997

Work interest – Horse lameness, reproduction and dentistry.

Outside interests – Team chasing and Hunting

LAURA STEPHEN – BVSC MRCVS – DIRECTOR

Laura joined the Isle Vet Group in 2006. She enjoys every aspect of her veterinary work, with particular interests in equine studwork, beef cattle production and soft tissue surgery. Always a keen horse rider, Laura has also built up a smallholding of Aberdeen Angus cattle and rare-breed sheep at home, which she enjoys with her husband and two daughters.

KAREN CHURCH – MA VETMB MRCVS – DIRECTOR

Karen has been with the Isle Vet Group for over 20 years. She enjoys working with cattle in healthcare and reproduction, and general riding horse care. Karen previously hunted the Cambridge University Draghounds and was Chairman of Cambridge riding club. She is now a Pony Club Mum and breeder of Hereford cattle

CARLOS HERNANDEZ VALERO – VETERINARY SURGEON

Originally from Spain, Carlos graduated from the University of Madrid in 2013. He spent his first two years performing two internships in Madrid and Barcelona. Carlos moved to the UK in 2017 and he joined the Isle Veterinary Group in 2018. His main interests include surgery, ophthalmology and orthopaedics. Outside of work he keeps busy exploring new countries, enjoying their gastronomy and their culture.

GIULIA TAGLIAFERRI – VETERINARY SURGEON

Originally from Italy, where she graduated in 2015. After doing a breeding season in a small thoroughbred breeding farm, Giulia had a 1 year internship in South Africa. She then moved to the UK where she worked as an ambulatory vet in Northern Ireland before finally joining the Isle Veterinary Group in 2018. Her main interests include equine medicine, lameness and ophthalmology but also enjoys some farm work. In her spare time she enjoys running and exploring new places.

MARIA MARTIN PEREZ – LV MRCVS

Originally from Spain, Maria graduated from University of Cordoba in 2015. She spent her first months as a new graduate performing an internship in an equine hospital based in Germany. In 2017, Maria moved to the UK and joined Isle in 2018. Her main interests include internal medicine and orthopaedics as well as reproduction. Outside of work, she is kept busy exploring new places in England.

NELL WHARTON – VETERINARY SURGEON

Originally from England but grew up in Australia, Nell graduated from the University of Sydney in 2016. Her first year in practice was undertaken at the University of Sydney Large Animal teaching Hospital where she undertook a livestock internship. She was nominated for, and won the Don Kerr National award for academic achievement and exceptional commitment to cattle medicine. In 2018, Nell moved back to the UK and joined the large animal team in September. Nell has a passion for goat health and medicine, ruminant reproduction and preventative medicine. In her spare time, she fly fishes with her partner, paints (badly) and hangs out with their two dogs, Flo and George.

GIULIA SAVIOLI – VETERINARY SURGEON

Originally from Switzerland, Giulia moved to the UK to train as a vet at the University of Cambridge where she qualified in June 2018. Having grown up with horses and donkeys, she enjoys all aspects of equine and farm animal work. Giulia joined the large animal team in September 2018 and has a passion for veterinary public health and infectious diseases. She is working towards gaining her official export certification qualifications, and is continually broadening her knowledge through courses and professional development. In her spare time Giulia is a keen runner, rock climber and swimmer and enjoys spending time with her partner and their cat.

JULIE GREEN – PRACTICE MANAGER

Julie has been involved in client care for more years than she wants to admit. She is proud to claim to be a ‘happy hacker’ and enjoys pottering around the lanes and countryside on her cob Alice. She also has an interest in sheep breeding having successfully been involved with the Regen Charollais flock for many years.

JO MONTESSO – NURSE

Jo joined the Isle Vet Group in March 2008 and brought with her 25 year’s worth of knowledge and experience from working in equine hospitals across Cambridge and Newmarket.
Jo has a keen interest in natural horsemanship and spends her free time with multiple companion animals at home.

KERI WHITWELL – EQUINE VETERINARY NURSE RVN / R-SQP / AI TECHNICIAN

Keri joined the practice in February 2013 and enjoys assisting in all aspects of equine and farm animal veterinary nursing. In 2018, Keri became an Equine Artificial Insemination Technician and enjoys assisting Laura with Bovine Embryo Transfer.

In 2019, Keri became a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) shortly followed by the completion of her Animal Medicines Advisory qualifications for all species to become an R-SQP (a busy year!).

When not dressed in work attire she enjoys the countryside and spending time outdoors with her Shetland pony, Thunder Pants, who is the company mascot.

KERRI MESHER – RECEPTIONIST

Kerri joined the team in January 2011 and works part time. Working from the reception desk, she primarily manages the vets diaries and insurances on a daily basis as well as day-to-day office duties and anyone phoning or coming into the practice will get to know her well.

From a young age, she has always had a keen interest in animals great and small and lives with her husband Ian, son Isaac and their two cats Neve and Maddy and two rabbits Tilly and Bernie.

SOPHIE BECKLEY – RECEPTIONIST

Sophie joined the Isle team in July 2018. She thoroughly enjoys the variety involved in her
work alongside communicating with clients, assisting with queries and developing her
knowledge.  From a young age Sophie has been passionate about animals.

During leisure time, Sophie enjoys spending time with her family, friends and Staffordshire
bull terrier dog (Sid).

PAULINE WHITWELL – RECEPTIONIST

Pauline joined the Isle team in 2018 and enjoys performing her administrative
duties. She gained her knowledge of the veterinary industry after assisting at Isle
throughout the summer of 2016.

Outside of work, Pauline enjoys spending her time with her family and two dogs
whilst also travelling the countryside in her motorhome.

EMMA PREECE – ACCOUNTS

Emma has been with the Isle Vet Group since 2013 and whilst supporting the staff in the office her main role is looking after the accounts for the group.
Outside of work Emma enjoys spending time with her family, going to the gym, holidays and running a Brownie pack.

Thunder Pants – Mascot for the Isle Veterinary Group

Thunder Pants thoroughly enjoys all aspects of his job here at Isle Veterinary Group Ltd. From acting as a companion to assisting with training, Thunder Pants is very flexible with his working hours and is always happy to help wherever he can. Owned by our Veterinary Nurse, Keri, he spends most of his time eating, maintaining his cheeky character and performing tricks for anyone who may possibly have treats in their possession!
